EQA
The QA Reference Centre is responsible for regional administration of the External Quality Assurance (EQA) Scheme for Gynaecological Cytopathology. All laboratory staff who report on cytological samples are required to take part in this national scheme which is designed to enable participants to compare their performance with that of their peers. It is also an educational tool and acts to reassure all staff working in the NHS Cervical Screening Programme that individual performance is at the required standard.
